
"Our Space Your Place Too!" is an innovative Good Relations project that used active engagement in community arts to strengthen community connections. The project introduced marginalised and isolated individuals from diverse backgrounds to a new, welcoming Shared Space, bringing communities together through the transformative power of the arts.
A total of 179 participants took part in an inspiring programme of weekly arts workshops, developing new skills, discovering new interests, and building resilience and lasting friendships.
The project was funded through the T:BUC Central Good Relations Fund.
About the Group
Greater Shantallow Community Arts (GSCA) delivered the project. GSCA is a vibrant community arts organisation based in the Outer North area of Derry city. They are committed to bringing direct access to arts and culture into some of the city's most disadvantaged communities.

Project Successes
Our Space Your Place Too! in 2024/25 evolved as a vibrant, inclusive initiative that addressed Good Relations.
Conducted over 14 weeks, participants engaged with an expanded programme of artistic activities that fully embedded Good Relations principles throughout. By working collaboratively across perceived divides, individuals developed deeper social connections and a stronger sense of belonging.
Our Space Your Place Too! demonstrates the power of creativity as a tool for building understanding, breaking down barriers, and fostering real community cohesion.
Conclusion
By actively engaging individuals from diverse and often marginalised backgrounds, the project created a dynamic shared space where people of all ages, cultures, and abilities forged meaningful connections.
Thia commitment to inclusivity and accessibility has ensured that individuals from across the Derry and Strabane area, representing various community and cultural backgrounds, have had an equal opportunity to participate and benefit.
