Belfast Trust has released their ‘Let’s Connect’ Good Relations poster, which is a vibrant piece of artwork created by Artist in Residence, Beth McComish. The artwork was inspired by the powerful stories shared at their Good Relations storytelling event.

Trust staff gathered to hear real-life experiences from international colleagues and service users from ethnically diverse communities. Their honest, emotional and deeply personal stories set the tone for a memorable event held at Girdwood as part of Good Relations Week 2025.

The Planning and Equality Team has now released their ‘Let’s Connect’ Good Relations poster to capture the voices shared on the day. Celebrating Good Relations Week is an important part of their ongoing Good Relations Strategy, reflecting the commitment to creating workplaces, services and facilities that are inclusive, welcoming and genuinely shared spaces.

This year’s theme, Let’s Connect, was brought to life throughout the event, and the subsequent artwork reflects the everyday connections made across the Trust between colleagues, service users, and the communities they service and support. Good Relations Week 2025 encouraged “us to reflect on how we build connection across cultures, roles and lived experiences. At Belfast Trust, connection is not just a theme it is part of who we are.”

Chief Executive, Jennifer Welsh, opened the event by reaffirming the Trust’s corporate commitment to their proactive Section 75 duty to promote good relations across racial groups, religious beliefs and political opinions. Jennifer said, “Diversity is the one true thing we all have in common. Celebrate it every day.”

The theme of ‘Connect’ resonates strongly within Health and Social Care, where compassion, human connection and cultural understanding play a vital role in delivering safe, effective and person-centred care. It is equally important in ensuring our culturally diverse workforce feels respected, included and supported.

As an employer, service provider and proud Trust of Sanctuary, Belfast Trust remains committed to challenging racism and sectarianism, reducing health inequalities, ensuring every person is treated with dignity and respect, and that our places of work and where we deliver care and treatment are welcoming and inclusive places

The ‘Let’s Connect’ poster is a vibrant celebration of the stories shared during the event. Symbols of community, heritage and connection are woven throughout the artwork, reflecting the voices of staff and service users who contributed their lived experiences. The artwork is uplifting and hopeful capturing not only the diversity within Belfast Trust, but the strength that comes from connection and understanding. It stands as a visual reminder of our commitment to inclusivity, respect and belonging for all.
