Information sessions about a new peace building programme that will focus on the story of the past in relation to the ‘Border Road Closures’ and the people most affected at that time will take place in March 2019.
The Community Dialogue Circles Programme is one of 16 projects taking place across the district as part of the £2.8 million Fermanagh and Omagh PEACE IV Local Action Plan. The Local Action Plan is being delivered by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). Match-funding has been provided by the Executive Office in Northern Ireland and the Department for Rural and Community Development.
Through a community dialogue circles process – which involves facilitated conversations in small groups – the programme aims to capture experiences, stories and memories of life along the border and the impact of the physical divide between County Fermanagh and the Republic of Ireland and to build and strengthen relationships between communities.
All discussions will be facilitated by qualified and experienced facilitators.
Information sessions will take place at Erne View Community Centre, Derrylin at 7.30pm on Monday 11 March 2019; the Fountain Centre, Kesh at 7.30pm on Wednesday 13 March 2019 and at the Oak Healthy Living Centre, Lisnaskea at 7.30pm on Thursday 14 March 2019 for anyone interested in finding out more about the programme or participating in it.
