Residents of the Quarry Heights shared housing scheme joined together for a community celebration featuring the unveiling of a new mural. Organised by Ark Housing Association through the scheme’s Good Relations Plan, the event was supported by the Department for Communities and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive’s ‘Housing for All’ Shared Housing Programme.
Focusing on bridging and bonding activities, the event brought residents together to strengthen relationships, foster community connections and promote positive shared living.
Working alongside artists Glenn and Ken from Blaxe FX, residents helped create a vibrant mural depicting Scrabo Tower, transforming a grey wall into a colourful focal point for the neighbourhood.
Residents and guests enjoyed live music from the Loughries Men’s Shed and ukulele ensemble, a summer BBQ provided by McMasters Hog Roast, and a range of animals brought along by Party Animals NI.
The Quarry Heights, Newtownards shared housing scheme is supported by the Department for Communities and the Housing Executive’s ‘Housing for All’ Shared Housing Programme. The Programme has its origins in the NI Executive Together: Building a United Community Strategy, which reflects the Executive’s commitment to improving community relations and continuing the journey towards a more united and shared society.
Ark Housing Association continues to work in partnership with Newtownards Advisory Group, local stakeholders and residents to develop and deliver Quarry Heights’ Good Relations Plan, and support activities that encourage inclusion and strengthen connections within the shared neighbourhood.
