Ardoyne Youth Enterprise is kick-starting its Welcoming Newcomers to North Belfast programme.

The Welcoming Newcomers programme promotes the harmonious integration of newcomers to North Belfast communities.

The programme includes free Small Worlds workshops where youth and community groups are given the opportunity to chat with people from around the world about their experience of migration.

In September, workshops will be held with a women’s group at Belfast Community Forum women’s group, young people on Ashton Community Forum Breakthrough programme, and P6-P7 children at Our Lady’s Primary School.

The other strand of the programme is a series of orientation sessions in partnership with North Belfast Friendship Club, where newcomers meet local youth and community groups and find out about services and activities available to them.

In May, Ardoyne Youth Enterprise brought 20 people from 8 different countries to watch a match at Ardoyne Kickhams’ Cliftonville Grounds. The next visit, on 27 August, will involve making pizza and meeting volunteers at Grow Community Gardens.
