Empowering Women and Men, Culture and Identity and Ethical and Shared Remembering - Classes in the Barron Hall Newtownabbey

In partnership with The Junction and funded by T:Buc and The Executive Office.

1. Empowering Women and Men :- Exploring patriarchy for the liberation of women

This community education programme teaches us about everything we need to know about
how women’s lives have been shaped by a male domination system that is aggressive and
violent. This programme is a must for women (and men) who wish to bring about changes
to a system that continually negates women and prevents the possibility of a positive,
long-lasting peace.

Starts 21st of January at 6.30 pm - 9.30 pm starting with dinner (free)

2. Culture and Identity; Understanding and healing

Using an Ethical Approach of Storytelling to understand Culture and Identity
This community education programme will provide the tools for sharing our stories in a
safe and non-threatening manner. Our stories form the roots of our culture and identity
and this programme will provide the means to explore these challenging themes in a
divided society.

Starts 10th January 11 am to 2 pm with lunch (free)

3. Ethical and Shared Remembering

A Decade of Change and Violence 1912 - 1922
Reimagining the Future 1918 - 1922

Living in Northern Ireland, we usually only know half the story or history of what
happened here. This community education programme will focus on a period in time that
shaped the physical, cultural, social and economical landscape of Ireland and will interest
those who wish to know more about, and explore, key historical events that still influence
us today.

Starts 10th January 6 pm to 9 pm with dinner (free)

If you are interested in any of the courses please let me know
