Diversity Celebration Day

Diversity Celebration Day | NICRC

Causeway Multi-Cultural Forum recently delivered a vibrant Diversity Celebration Day in Portrush Town Hall, bringing together around 90 adults and children from a wide mix of cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including refugees and asylum seekers. Chairperson Margarita Vidinova welcomed Deputy Mayor Alderman Richard Stewart who opened the event.

The event featured music, dance, storytelling, Tai Chi, henna art, children’s crafts, and a selection of international dishes, all contributing to a warm, welcoming atmosphere where participants could connect, share traditions, and build new friendships.

A craft workshop for children led by Olena Tytarenko proved very popular, while a packed Portrush Town Hall was entertained to storytelling from Japan performed by Masako Carey and Tai Chi from China demonstrated by Wei Wang as well as a very entertaining toe tapping sing along with Portstewart Ukulele Band. Many participants were delighted that Mediha, a very skilled henna artist was there to demonstrate her skill.  The entertainment concluded with an amazing display of Irish dancing performed by Innova Irish Dance company. To conclude celebration, everyone was treated to a delicious selection of dishes typical of food enjoyed around the world.

This successful celebration of community and inclusion was funded with support from Radius Housing through the Housing for All Programme, under the Cappagh Green Good Relations Plan in Portstewart.
