Historian and author Philip Orr will be in conversation with Belfast Telegraph editor at large Gail Walker about his recent book The Illustrated History of Flight. The event is organised by Falls Council who are core funded by the Community Relations Council.
In January 2021, Philip’s book of autobiographical prose and poems was published. For many years, his late father was a clergyman in rural County Down and then on the Shankill Road and the Rathcoole estate. The book is Philip’s attempt to give a voice to those who grew up as he did in an Evangelical world that prized its British identity and its service in the security forces. As the title suggests, Philip is also interested in the role of emigration in the Unionist narrative. His book is available at www.ptorr.com
