Open Call for Artists – The Playhouse

The Playhouse is recruiting a bank of artists of all disciplines, including visual artists, performers, storytellers, musicians, creative writers, photographers, etc with a strong track record in participation and experience in the delivery of art workshops with diverse groups of young people – for The Playhouse Street Talk Project.

The Playhouse is supported through the Community Relations Council’s Core Funding Scheme.

Street Talk

Street Talk is an exciting multi-artform project that engages artists with groups of young people throughout Derry-Londonderry, Strabane, Limavady, and the Greater Belfast areas. Artists will work with the young people through structured programmes of workshops that empower them to creatively address youth related issues.

Programme details

The programmes will start in October 2022.

Artist workshop fees: £35 per hour. Plus £140 per day for preparation and production of showcase work. There is also a travel allowance.

Artists are invited to submit their CV and 6 images or extracts of work, along with a letter no more than 2 sides of an A4 page, showing the following information:

  • Main artform(s)
  • Examples and images or extracts of work showing recent experience in the delivery of art workshops with young people
  • Examples of innovative approaches to creative participation and engagement.; demonstrating a flexibility in approach to delivery methods regarding different groups
  • Awareness of the issues faced by young people in marginalised communities.
