This Earth Day (22 April 2026), Queen’s University Belfast and Join the Dots Together will host a unique, participatory conference: “An Economy of Enough in a Time of Crisis and Opportunity.”
At a time of climate crisis, rising inequality and growing social division, this event offers something different: not just another conference, but a space to connect, listen and co-create real alternatives for a more just, sustainable and peaceful economy here in Northern Ireland.
The morning (9.30am–12.45pm, Canada Room) will be interactive and dynamic, prioritising:
- dialogue over presentation
- listening over debating
- collaboration over competition
At its heart is a World Café, where participants rotate through small-group conversations with practitioners working on inspiring, real-world initiatives—from Doughnut Economics and community energy to the Economy of Francesco, credit unions, and local projects like Jubilee Farm.
Dr Lorna Gold of the Laudato Sì Movement will also offer input and help deepen the shared reflection.
This is a hopeful space, grounded in the belief that alternatives already exist, and can grow stronger when people come together across sectors and generations.
