The work that CRC’s Core-funded groups undertake can be grouped into four distinct themes, which illustrate the diverse issues that are currently taking place throughout the region during 2025-26.
Sectarianism
Work which seeks to address sectarianism in all its manifestations in communities, interface areas (rural & urban), workplaces and online. Includes engaging and educating young people and preventing them from being exploited by others and entering the criminal justice system.
Paramilitarism
Includes work in developing anti-intimidation toolkits, training provision and supporting communities to address cross-community & internal community intimidation and all forms of coercive control, working alongside key statutory and community partners. Includes supporting young people and preventing them from being exploited by others and entering the criminal justice system.
Racism
Work which supports communities responding to a changing society. Includes inter-cultural dialogue and development of anti-intimidation toolkits for adults and young people. Work includes supporting individuals and families and working with key community & statutory partners (such as housing bodies and the police) responding to hate crime, including responding to misinformation being spread online and within communities.
Violence Against Women & Girls
Work responding to this growing problem. Includes trauma informed care supporting women, and work with both adults and young people to increase understanding of violence against women and girls, including addressing inappropriate behaviour and challenging attitudes to support prevention.
Anti-Social Behaviour
Work, mostly with young people, supporting them in their decision making, developing their skills and preventing them from being exploited by others and entering the criminal justice system.
Cultural celebrations & Shared History
Work to develop understanding about cultural expression across communities. Includes work on language, cultural expression & identity, inter-faith dialogue/exchange and others.
Contentious issues (Past, present, future)
Work which seeks to address contentious issues resulting from the legacy of division, including significant historical events, contemporary contentious cultural celebrations and constitutional debates.
Building Community Capacity
Work which aims to support and skill communities in responding to their needs. Activity includes providing training in community development practice, developing community leadership and infrastructure, trauma informed practice and supporting community wealth building and community co-operatives.
Shared Education & Young People
Work which responds to the needs of young people. Working with young people, schools and youth organisations to develop relationships across community and cultural boundaries. Includes provision of training (qualifications) and support to develop young people and challenge negative influences in their lives. Includes work supporting the next generation of good relations practitioners.
