The 25th Anniversary of the Peace Maze is being commemorated on the International Day of Peace at an event organised by County Down Rural Community Network and Corrymeela.
The community Relations Council supports Corrymeela through its Core Funding Scheme.
This special occasion will mark 25 years of the Peace Maze as a symbol of hope, reconciliation and community. And the event is an opportunity for an afternoon of reflection and celebration.
The programme will include the following:
- Welcome and opening remarks
- Speeches
- A performance by the Corrymeela Choir
- Ceremonial planting of Golden Yew Trees to commemorate the anniversary
- Performance by Castlewellan Interchurch choir
- Refreshments and an opportunity to meet with guests.
The International Day of Peace provides a fitting opportunity to recognise the lasting significance of the Peace Maze and to celebrate the people and communities who have helped sustain its legacy over the past quarter century.
