A landmark Windrush Awareness Roundtable will be held at the Ulster Museum, bringing together community leaders, government representatives, and stakeholders to strengthen awareness of the Windrush Compensation Scheme and to celebrate the contributions of Commonwealth citizens to the United Kingdom.

The event is being organised by Multi-Ethnic Sports and Cultures NI (MSCNI) in partnership with the National Museums NI. It will be one of the first opportunities in Northern Ireland to engage directly with the newly appointed Commissioner, Reverend Clive Foster MBE, alongside individuals with lived experience of the Windrush generation.

Background

The Windrush generation – citizens from the Caribbean and wider Commonwealth who arrived in the UK to help rebuild after the Second World War – made significant contributions to society, despite many facing discrimination and hardship.

The Windrush Compensation Scheme, established by the UK Government, seeks to provide redress to those impacted. This roundtable aims to raise awareness of the scheme, ensure affected individuals know how to access support, and provide a space to hear directly from communities.
