Make Music Day 2022 - Celebrating Women in Music | Beyond Skin

Make Music Day - Beyond Skin | NICRC

This year celebrates 40 years since Music Day began in France with the Féte De La Musique Festival. And various countries throughout the world marked the occasion with a special 40th Anniversary event.

Beyond Skin, in collaboration with Donne Foundation (Women in Music), are representing the UK with a specially composed song.

The project was supported by the Community Relations Council’s CR/CD Small Grants Scheme and included music/arts workshops.

Donne Foundation

L’été (Summer) – a composition by French composer Cecile Chaminade (1857-1944) – was performed by Gabriella de Laccio (Soprano) and Helen Tseng (Piano).

Gabriella is a Soprano and the founder of Donne Foundation (Women in Music). Helen Tseng is a pianist from Taiwan living in Northern Ireland for the last 14 years.

The music video for Feté de La Musique 40 was recorded in Belfast earlier in 2022 when Gabriella visited Northern Ireland to help facilitate workshops around International Women's Day as part of the Musician Artists at Risk Resettlement Scheme, which received support from the Community Relations Council. The workshops and the music video celebrate the diversity of Women in Music and will help raise awareness of the inequality and challenges of women unrepresented and at risk seeking sanctuary.
