Aims and Objectives

To provide the catalyst required to involve schools in cross-community curriculum projects;
To facilitate the development of a wide range of projects appropriate for schools involved in cross-community contact and within those projects to meet the objectives of the curriculum;
To enable schools to continue developing various aspects of joint work independently;
To provide evaluation of the work undertaken.

Projects and Activities

The Trust produces materials for schools to use both in preparation for visits, during visits and for follow-up work. Each programme is linked to the curriculum.

Programmes are currently sited at Parkanaur Forest Park, the Baronscourt Estate and Beltrim Castle. Schools are encouraged to follow themes through a number of related programmes ensuring that pupils work together on a regular basis enabling them to get to know each other and develop mutual understanding and respect. Approximately 20,000 children participate in Speedwell's programmes annually.
