Propagation of Christian teaching on peace and justice; The establishment of peace through justice; The promotion of reconciliation in society; The exposition of the futility of violence and the ultimate efficacy of non-violence; The provision of a meeting place for Christians who are willing to commit themselves to the promotion of peace and justice; The education and training of peace leaders in dealing with conflict through nonviolent means; Collaboration with other peace organisations and individuals in the task of establishing peace and justice in Ireland and in the world.
Projects and Activities
Working to encourage dialogue at various levels; Educational activities, eg. talks, seminars and a small number of publications; Supporting the work of others on common areas of interest (members are actively encouraged to be a Pax Christi presence whenever the opportunity arises); Spiritual programme including: annual mass and vigil for peace in a different parish each year, retreat for members, spiritual events, public talks, personal programme of prayer of each member and prayer at monthly meetings; Promotion of the gospel of nonviolence at various levels including: working with FOR (NI) on a Christian nonviolence study pack; acting as observers in potentially violent situations; taking part in public vigils for peace etc.
