Projects and Activities

During the past 7 years the company has developed a special community relations programme through its work in making people throughout the island of Ireland aware of the historical event of the 7 June 1917 when the Nationalist 16th Irish and Unionist 36th Ulster Divisions fought side by side at the Battle of Messines Ridge in World War I. The first project was the construction of the island of Ireland Peace Park by young people from throughout Ireland, dedicated on 11 November 1998 by President McAleese, HM Queen Elizabeth II and HM King Albert II, followed by the construction of the International School for Peace Studies, the introduction of the Fellowship of Messines Project to train people in the skills of conflict resolution and mediation and a new project to commence this autumn to build a 128 bed peace village.
