Aims and Objectives

The key themes running through the future development of the Indian Community Centre can be defined as:

Developing an open and effective approach to participation in the organising and running of the services and facilities in the Centre creating greater awareness and ownership;
Generating an integrated and multi-disciplinary approach to providing services with collaboration from statutory agencies;
Developing cross-community promotion of arts and cultural traditions as well as an understanding of common cultural aspects and acknowledgement of diversity.

Bearing these key themes in mind the objectives of the Indian Community Centre are:

To increase the level of participation and inclusion in the services it provides.
To involve outside agencies in bringing equal access to statutory services.
To develop cultural awareness both with the Indian Community and the wider community.
To provide a range of support services for the whole Indian Community as well as specifically targeted groups.
To increase the use of the Indian Community Centre by the wider community and outside agencies such as local community groups and service providers.

The Indian Community Centre at the present time is running its Senior Citizens Project (Luncheon Club)

Arts and Culture Development Programme
