Aims and Objectives

We offer programmes, residential accommodation and meeting spaces to groups involved in discussing difficult issues in order to make our world a better place.

·        We strive to work inclusively, sharing our views of the future, with all members of our communities.

·        We explore our environment with integrity, finding-out different ways of living sustainably.

·        We practice non-violence as a way of life and as a way of changing our society for the better.

·        We learn about each other, share our stories, our differences and our cultures and learn to live as active members of our communities.

·        We ask ourselves questions and engage in conversations to create new ideas and possibilities of a better place to live.

·        We welcome everyone’s contribution to peace.

Projects and Activities

Future Communities

Kilcranny House is currently running an exciting multi-faceted project called Future Communities, supported by the International Fund for Ireland Community Bridges Programme.

The Future Communities project looks to our shared future, inspiring others to work for peace and prosperity in their communities, schools and workplaces. The approach is one of engaging the whole person and through them reaching into the whole community. We work intensively with local communities, mapping out needs and through training and building skills work with them to realise the vision they have for their shared community in the future. This can involve environmental improvements, inter-cultural understanding, confidence building, peace-building, and youth intervention work, active citizenship programmes and help in planning community events.

Minority Ethnic Support

The aim of the project is to work alongside migrant workers and new citizens to encourage active citizenship within Northern Irish society.

The project also provides opportunities for social events involving local residents and new citizens in order to develop understanding of each other’s culture and to build positive relationships.

The project has provided anti-racism and prejudice awareness training to youth and community groups, as well as workshops at conferences. Research has also been carried out into the needs of ethnic minority and migrant workers and their employers. Kilcranny House has also developed close working links with the Coleraine Multi-cultural Forum.

Good Relations

Kilcranny House also offer Good Relations Training, Support and Mentoring to local groups to enhance their capacity for engaging within our communities for a shared future of inclusivity and tolerance
