Aims and Objectives

To promote the development of a range of high quality cross community early childhood services. To suppor the training and development of management committees, parents, teachers in relation to promoting high quality care and education. To foster a culture of inclusion and respect for difference within early childhood services.

Projects and Activities

Early years has worked in the area of inclusion for a number of years. Currently it is running two major projects aimed at promoting a culture of respecting difference and inclusion in early years. The Media Initiative respecting difference programme aims to tackle sectarianism, racism, physical discrimination, ethnicity and bullying. It is an ev idence based programme which has been shown to promote greater understanding of different traditions and cultures in NI/RoI. The Traveller Toy Box Project is a project aimed at tackling institutional raqcism and supporting Traveller children and families to access early education.
