Projects and Activities

Beyond Skin was established in January 2004 to assist cultural relations in Northern Ireland using music, arts and media as a methodology. Beyond Skin over the years have acquired a strong reputation for the development and delivery of creative inovative programs that in turn have produced positive and successful outcomes assisting cultural relations.

  • The majority of Beyond Skin’s work is through the organisation’s multicultural world music collective, ‘The Motion Project’ which has become a high profile locally and globally recognised project that uses music to assist cultural learning, exchange and relations through workshops, performances, recording programs and interactive music sessions.
  • Beyond Skin’s other flagship program is ‘Homely Planet’ radio, an internet broadcast station focusing on cultural education/exchange and world music. Homely Planet launched in April 2008 and quickly became internationally and locally recognised as a media network beacon for global cultural exchange and world music. Partnerships is a key element for Beyond Skin's delivery strategy and we are always interested in collaborations and ideas that can assist the method of peacebuilding and cultural education.
  • World Music NI is a partnership music enterprise with SEEDS (Derry) providing a wide range of services within the world music sector.
  • With launch of Beyond Skin Global in 2010 we are using our Global Partners to develop projects with Northern Ireland communities.
