The Community Relations Council welcomes the official opening by Justice Minister David Ford of the new gate in the Alexandra Park fence in North Belfast and the work planned for the neighbouring Newington Street barrier.

CRC Chair Tony McCusker said:

“CRC welcomes the lead shown by the Department of Justice in working with local communities and other agencies to help remove barriers in North Belfast. This is an excellent example of what interagency partnership can achieve on interfaces with local support.  This and other future initiatives will help regenerate local areas, build vibrant and sustainable communities and be an essential element in building a shared and reconciled society.”
