Victims and PEACE III Funding

20 April 2011

The Community Relations Council (CRC) manages a Victims and Survivors Programme which is funded by the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister (OFMDFM). This has enabled it to provide grant support for projects engaged in this important work

Duncan Morrow, CRC Chief Executive, said:

“Grant applications from victim support groups are currently being assessed for the new Strategic Support Fund but unfortunately CRC has not received any letter of offer from OFMDFM that would enable the Council to issue contract offers to applicants. CRC has impressed on OFMDFM the urgency of the position for victim and survivors groups and the continuation of their work.”

The Community Relations Council, as part of a consortium with POBAL, also manages part of the EU Peace III Programme (Theme 2.1- Acknowledging and Dealing with the Past). Grant applications are currently being assessed for this fund.

Duncan Morrow said:

“The Peace III scheme (2.1) has been massively oversubscribed for the limited funds available; well over 100 applications have been received, many for very large amounts. These need to be carefully assessed on a competitive basis by staff from CRC and POBAL. Applications for over £500,000 also require an independent economic appraisal and this inevitably will impact on the processing time of the applications.”
