The Community Relations Council (CRC) has welcomed the launch of the North Belfast Respect Programme. The events in the programme will take place across North Belfast over the next five weeks and are being delivered on a cross-community partnership basis.
Duncan Morrow, CRC Chief Executive, said:
‘The Community Relations Council has supported numerous community relations projects in the North Belfast area over many years and is pleased to see much of this good work reflected in the Respect Programme. Promoting respect for diversity and encouraging positive cross-community contacts and relationships are at the heart of what the Community Relations Council is about. We are pleased that the Respect Programme reflects CRC’s investment in community organisations in the area capable of providing leadership and direction to achieve this. North Belfast has suffered much over the course of the Troubles and has been bitterly divided on sectarian grounds. Events such as those in the Respect Programme demonstrate that a different more shared future is possible.’
