The Community Relations Council has welcomed the Assembly decision this week to support the devolution of Policing and Justice responsibilities to the NI Executive.
Chief Executive Duncan Morrow said:
‘No single issue has divided us so much as the division over the law. Agreement on the devolution of Policing and Justice matters creates a real possibility for a new beginning- a rule of law where everyone is an equal citizen, treated with dignity and human rights.
‘Cohesion Sharing and Integration is not merely a document or a slogan- they are real goals. And a cohesive society is one with where the rule of law is supreme. If Policing and Justice now becomes our point of common loyalty rather than the symbol of our division we will have made important progress.
‘The Community Relations Council looks forward to assisting in this work.’
