Shared Space

22 October 2009

The Community Relations Council has just published the eighth volume of its research journal Shared Space. Published twice a year the journal addresses themes of peace, conflict and community relations in Northern Ireland.

Journal editor Ray Mullan says:

‘This eighth edition of Shared Space appears as Northern Ireland and the world struggles with the consequences of a global recession. On one level this may make our own local divisions seem small and irrelevant, but on another level it makes it even more important that we put in place strategies and policies that enable us as a society to overcome our divisions and thus better position ourselves to exploit opportunities for recovery when they come.’

‘Articles in this edition of Shared Space explore some of the areas where lessons can be learned and practical action planned. The research which underpins all these articles has been funded by the Community Relations Council. The UNESCO research project at the University of Ulster was funded by CRC under the EU Peace II Programme. The research behind the other articles was funded by CRC’s annual Research Award Scheme.’
