IFA Director of Coaching, Roy Millar, today stated the IFA’s Coach Education Programme is committed to the promotion of Good Relations and challenges Coaches in Northern Ireland to think of the role they can play to challenge bigotry in all its forms:
“On Sunday our Head of Community Relations, Michael Boyd, delivered a Community Relations Awareness compulsory module as part of our IFA Coach Education Programme to over 20 Coaches in South Belfast. This module is designed to encourage Coaches to think of the powerful role they have in the community and the influence they can have in the promotion of a more inclusive culture throughout the sport of football in Northern Ireland. This is a compulsory module and has been an integral part of our Coach Education Programmes since July 2000 with hundreds of Coaches having benefited from it. In football we all have a responsibility to challenge sectarianism and racism, and we believe we are making a valuable difference. We believe in the philosophy of Football For All and we do our best to empower Coaches to create a safe, fun and inclusive atmosphere. The positive promotion of the Community Relations, Women’s Football, Child Protection and Disability Football is at the heart of all our Coach Education Work!”
