Seen and not heard?
Young people are all too often ‘seen and not heard’ in contemporary society and
the Rural Enabler Programme aims to allow the voices of young people to be
heard, in terms of contributing to the design of a new shared future for themselves.
Issues of sectarianism and racism continue to be visible with young people most at
risk of attack or abuse and support from the Rural Enablers allows them to be
instrumental in driving localised projects and actions in order to address these issues
within their communities. This issue of Rural Enabler Matters focuses on the activities
and approaches that have taken place with young people, from pre-schools to young
adults, to bring about positive change.
