Research on the road - Belfast

29 November 2011

Due to the high demand for the ARK and NICVA ‘Research on the road’ events, previously held in Newry and Omagh, a further event will now be held in Belfast. This half-day research methods seminar and ‘surgery’ provides a forum for participants to ask representatives from ARK and NICVA’s Research Unit for advice. These events are specially tailored for the voluntary and community sector.

Research on the road - Belfast: 31 January 2012, 10.00am-1.00pm at NICVA, 61 Duncairn Gardens, Belfast BT15 2GB

The aim is to inform participants as to why research is important and how a basic understanding of research methods will help them with funding applications, understanding their own organisation, and evaluating research output.

Outline of event

  • Evidence informed policy – NICVA will highlight the importance of gathering research and evidence to support the work of voluntary and community organisations.
  • Data sourcing - ARK will signpost participants to sources where suitable data to support the work of voluntary sector organisations can be found and will explain how these can be utilised.
  • Introduction to research methods – ARK will provide an introduction to a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Research surgery – participants will have the opportunity to ask representatives from ARK and NICVA’s Research Unit for advice on their own future or ongoing projects.

The session is free, however, spaces will be limited to one per organisation; to book a place please click on the link above. Bookings must be made by 23 January 2012.
