Following the successful pilot of this training, NCB NI would like to invite you to a course that aims to provide participants with a greater awareness of issues faced by children and young people (CYP) from Black & Minority Ethnic (BME) communities living in Northern Ireland.
"The training presented a great balance between theoretical knowledge necessary to understand relevant issues like culture, culture motivated behaviour, identity and practical tips, and advice on how to engage young people from BME backgrounds. I would highly recommend this training"
Ashiah Cackowska, Belong NI
It will also provide some practical tips on how to ensure that a diverse range of children and young people are engaged and made to feel welcome and included when participating within organisations.
Learning outcomes of the course:
By the end of this training participants will:
- Understand the terms culture and ethnicity;
- Have identified opportunities and challenges to working with BME young people in NI;
- Better understand the issues faced with engaging CYP from BME backgrounds;
- Have identified steps to use to make their own organisation more welcoming and inclusive to children and young people from BME backgrounds.
