Supporting integration  between the host and refugee community in your neighbourhood

Successful completion of this course and assessment of participants leading training sessions in a community session, will lead to

Accreditation:

Developing Leadership OCN level 2

The aims of the community facilitation trainer course is to:

Develop skills and confidence to facilitate group work sessions.

Understand the key characteristics of an effective leader.

Understand the skills involved in being an effective leader.

Develop the relationship of leader and team member.

Demonstrate the ability to lead

This course is part of the Inclusive Neighbourhood Project and invites participants from both the host and refugee community. It is designed to support and mentor participants to encourage and facilitate the development of mutual understanding and common action between the host and the refugee community.

Further training opportunities will be available to develop facilitation, leadership and conflict management skills in 2011.

Who should apply to do this course ?

This course is targeted at those who

Wish to become involved in their local neighbourhood.

Have a desire to support integration between the host and refugee community.

Are committed to using their learning to contribute to the development of integration in Northern Ireland.

After training, willing to co facilitate at least one programme (4 sessions) to participants in the host or refugee community and a programme of joint sessions.

Previous facilitation or training skills are not necessary, but a high level of English is required for this initial training programme. 

Course Structure

Information session:

Mon 21 March 2011 (6.30-7.30pm)

Residential:

Sat 16 April to  Sunday 17 April 2011  at the Corrymeela Centre in Ballycastle.

Training sessions in Belfast:

20 April 2011

04, 11 & 18 May 2011

25 May (9.30am-4.30pm)

01, 08,15, 22 June 2011

All sessions are from 9.30am-1.30pm, except 25 May, which is all day.

Fee

There is no fee for this course.
