Unique opportunity for voluntary and community organisations, 17/18 October
Frustrated by the lack of improvement in the lives of many disadvantaged and vulnerable people in Northern Ireland? Interested in finding out more about how a human rights approach can help with your work? Then you will enjoy the two day training programme on Tuesday 17 October and Wednesday 18 October, at NICVA and the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission.
The Tuesday session will focus on an overview of relevant international and regional human rights standards and advice on using the Human Rights Act to improve policy and hold public authorities to account. The Wednesday morning will be devoted to discussing the importance of a Bill of Rights, followed by presentations on the work of the Human Rights Commission during a visit to its Headquarters.
It will be delivered by Professor Colin Harvey, Queen's University, Les Allamby, Director of the Law Centre (NI), Aideen Gilmore from the Committee on the Administration of Justice (CAJ) and commission staff.
The content is designed to appeal to advocates for disadvantaged groups, people working in the anti-poverty, equality and human rights fields and organisations involved in trying to improve service delivery. The two day course costs £20, which includes all training materials and lunches at NICVA and the Human Rights Commission.
