Unite against Hate urges people to report hate crime

Unite against Hate urges people to report hate crime

16 February 2011

A poster campaign to address the under-reporting of hate crime was launched by Unite against Hate on Tuesday, 15 February.

More than 2,100 hate crimes were committed against minority groups last year but authorities believe more than twice as many have gone unreported. The Unite against Hate initiative features celebrities and sports stars including broadcasters Pete Snodden and Lynda Bryans, boxing champion Paddy Barnes, model Gemma Garrett, TV wedding experts Ant and Dick and TV presenter Katie Larmour who condemn hate crime and have volunteered their time and presence free of charge to help deliver the anti-hate crime message. Representatives from the six groups feature alongside a celebrities. In addition to 48-sheet posters, a mobile billboard unit will tour Northern Ireland visiting six local authority areas, sporting events and other crowd-gathering locations.
