Youth Council for Northern Ireland (YCNI) have developed a 2 day drama workshop programme and accompanying toolkit, to help support youth workers and teachers who have a responsibility to explore community relations, diversity, equality and citizenship themes with young people.
Delivered by experts in the field of developing drama for education purposes you will have the opportunity to learn new skills and/or build your confidence in adopting creative tools in your work – including using exercises to open challenging discussions; using puppetry with young people and understanding and using forum theatre.
On completion of the 2 day programme, planned for the week beginning Monday 28th February 2011, you will receive a practical toolkit with a number of exercises, session plans and useful information that will further support your practice.
The programme is being rolled out over two days in the Belfast Area.
YCNI are calling youth workers and teachers who would be interested in participating. The workshop programme is FREE of charge however YCNI would require that all participants commit to attend the full two days; engage in evaluations and agree to test out one area of learning with young people and provide feedback.
You are also invited to participate in a workshop in The Share Centre, Lisnaskea, where Tinderbox Theatre Company will perform a series of short plays, commissioned by YCNI, that look at racism, sectarianism, diversity in Northern Ireland and Equality. This full-day workshop will take place on Monday 21st February 2011.
