Global Community Links

10 January 2011

Community linking is an ongoing relationship between a community group in the UK and a community group in a developing country. Links communicate regularly and do things together for mutual benefit.

Any kind of community group can be involved in a link, from youth groups to sports clubs to churches to social enterprises.

A key part of linking is to help you share learning about development issues with your wider community by running exciting UK learning events.

Why link?

By linking you can make connections between your community and the wider world, learn more about global development issues and take action on them globally and locally.

There is plenty of support available to help you start your link and keep developing it, including grants and learning workshops.

What does Global Community Links offer?

Global Community Links provides a range of support to links that are sharing learning of development issues with their wider community in the UK.

Once you have registered your link, you will be able to:

  • attend an Inspiration Activation workshop which will give you ideas for Global Learning activities
  • apply for a grant to help fund UK based global learning activities
  • attend our evaluation and celebration workshops to help you reflect on your successes
  • meet other people involved in Links to share ideas and experiences
  • receive quarterly newsletters with ideas to inspire and motivate your Link.
