The Community Relations Councils Research Scheme invites tenders to undertake a commissioned piece of work for the 10/11 year. The closing date for the receipt of applications will be 12th Jan 2011
Recent research has produced an index that allows for the identification and prioritisation of areas which have experienced high levels of vulnerability and community disengagement. The research has produced a score and rank for all 890 electoral super output areas of Northern Ireland. The Council is seeking to commission desk research to further examine the top 20% highest scoring areas (179 in total) with the view to identifying the following:
Community Relations resources that are currently being put into each of the areas identified including the contributions made by independent funders;
What inter-agency initiatives are currently taking place in terms of CR programme work;
What are the current CR resource gaps in terms of identified need/issues;
vAssess the match between needs/issues, the available resources, and, the types of interventions currently being undertaken.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
1. The researcher(s) should have a proven background in research and analysis in the relevant area.
2. The proposal should clearly demonstrate how it will fully address the research area identified.
3. The proposal will promote informed debate and be accessible to a wide target audience.
4. The researcher should be able to demonstrate critical distance from the research topic and groups involved.
Desirable:
1. A publication record.
In the first instance CRC requires from applicants a proposal (no more than 12 pages of A4, excluding CV details), covering the following:
Relevant experience and expertise of the researcher(s) who will undertake the work
A proposed time-scale and earliest start date
A detailed outline of the proposed methodological approach to each of the research objectives
A detailed costing of the proposed approach including average daily input and rates per team members inclusive of travel expenses and VAT.
Budget:
The budget for the proposal will be up to £25,000.
The closing date for the receipt of applications will be 12th Jan 2011. Short listed candidates may be invited to interview. Research will need to be completed by end of March 2011.
