The Equality Commission for Northern Ireland would recommend that any employer seeking to fully implement their Equal Opportunity Policy should ensure that all employees responsible for fulfilling key equality-related functions have received training in the appropriate area.
The Equality Champion Programme has been designed to assist employers of all sizes within the voluntary sector seeking to promote equality of opportunity. The aim is to assist them to identify the appropriate type of equality training for each level of employee based on their job roles.
This certificated programme will compliment and support the Employment Equality Plan for Voluntary Sector employers which outlines a framework for undertaking a Reasonable Steps Planning approach to promoting equality of opportunity.
Level A modules focus on key job roles such as The Selection Panel and The Line Manager. Level B involves a series of modules aimed at HR Specialists seeking to review their organisationīs current policies and procedures in areas such as absence management, terms & conditions and recruitment.
Each module is standalone and can therefore be taken in any order. Once the relevant module(s) have been completed participants are awarded a certificate acknowledging hours towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
