OFMdFM's Programme for Cohesion, Sharing and Integration Consultation

01 October 2010

You will already be aware that the public consultation exercise on the Programme for Cohesion, Sharing and Integration is now open. The Programme sets out a vision for a new era in which we work together to build a shared and better future, a future where fairness, equality, rights, responsibilities and respect are acknowledged and accepted by all.

The consultation period formally opened on Tuesday 27 July and will run until Friday 29 October 2010.  A series of public meetings is running throughout September and a number have already taken place.  A full schedule of the public meetings is attached for your information.

In addition to the public meetings, we are holding a range of sectoral events, which we hope will give a range of sectors the opportunity for more focused discussion and to give their views on aspects of the document.

In view of thesignificant and positive contribution that the community and voluntary sector makes to peace building and good relations, a specific consultation meeting with members of community and voluntary organisations will be held on:

Monday 4 October 2010, 9.30 am – 1.00 pm at Groundwork Northern Ireland, 63-75 Duncairn Gardens, Belfast  BT15 2GB

To help us make arrangements for the event, I would be grateful if you would register your attendance with my colleague Eleanor Ferris who can be contacted on 028 90 528497 or via email at: Eleanor.ferris@ofmdfmni.gov.uk   In registering, please also advise if you have any special dietary/access requirements.

Copies of the Programme for Cohesion, Sharing and Integration can be obtained via the contact details at the top of this letter and online via the OFMDFM website www.ofmdfmni.gov.uk. or NI Direct Website www.nidirect.gov.uk.
