The Community Relations Council (CRC) previously welcomed the publication of the Executive’s consultation on its draft Programme for Cohesion, Sharing and Integration (CSI) launched by the Office of the First and Deputy First Minister in July.
The consultation period on the document runs until 29 October 2010 and during the month of September OFMDFM will host a number of public consultation meetings to hear views from the public on this proposed programme of work.
Recent events provide further evidence that the conflict continues to impact negatively on our society. It affects people and their communities, particularly in relation to the cost of violent activity and duplication of spending on public services. It is therefore imperative that communities and individuals take time to read this document and attend the public events. It is an opportunity to have a say in how our society moves forward and tell government how the legacy of the conflict still impacts on everyday lives and what actions are needed to tackle sectarianism.
The final programme for CSI will set the direction for a shared, prosperous and democratic future for all the people of Northern Ireland and CRC is therefore encouraging widespread participation in the CSI consultation process so as to ensure that the local voices we support and work with throughout the year are heard at government level.
