The Belfast Divercity Project: exploring Shared Organisational Space.

12 February 2010

A new training and support programme is being offered by the WEA and its partners the Interaction Institute for Social Change, Mediation Northern Ireland and Belfast Interface Project.

The project’s aims are to:

  • Support leaders and organisations to work across differences to explore shared organisational space
  • Raise awareness of the nature and potential of diverse communities
  • Give participants practical skills to manage differences
  • Give participants an experience of engagement with an unfamiliar culture, through a set diversity challenge
  • Give participants nationally recognised qualifications that can be used for professional development

The project contains the following elements:

  • Training:  A 10 day programme for leaders in organisations/communities.  Participants will explore shared organisational space and learn how to lever the potential of diversity in support of it.  As part of the programme participants will achieve the National Council for Further Education (NCFE) Level 3 qualification in Managing Diversity.  There will be one run of this programme with 20 places for 10 organisations. (Ideally 2 people from one organisation)
  • Coaching and Support; A flexible package of 2.5 days of coaching and support for each of the 10 organisations taking part in the training programme.  The coaching and support will be used to help organisations address the challenges of sharing organisational space.

.A leaflet and application form are available which contain full details and instructions on how to apply.  Closing date for applications is 12.00 on Friday 5th March
