Ms Margaret Ritchie will be holding a series of public meetings

14 August 2009

She wishes to garner opinion and ideas around how her policy responsibilities can facilitate a ‘normalising’ of Northern Ireland society following years of conflict and stalemate. In particular how segregation in housing and other aspects of community life in Northern Ireland can be addressed in order, for example, to reduce religious and racial tensions in years ahead. Each event will take place between 7.00 and 9.00 pm. The meetings will open with tea and coffee and there will be an opportunity for you and the general public to put questions to the minister and engage in open discussion with a view to what the future priorities should be for her as Minister for Social Development.

Policy areas for discussion are:
  • Housing
  • Urban Regeneration
  • Community Development and the Voluntary and Community Sector
  • Tackling Disadvantage and Neighbourhood Renewal
  • Welfare Reform and Child Support
  • Social Policy including Gambling Regulation, Liquor Licencing and Charities
