Due to recent racist attacks on the Roma/Romanian Community in Belfast, many debates and arguments are circulating through communities across Northern Ireland.
But what do other communities really know about the Romanian people and their country?
In the 90’s pictures of Romanian orphanages hit TV screens generating a surge of support and aid, mostly from the people of Northern Ireland.
So have we really now turned our back on the Romanian people?
Are the past images of abandoned children all we associate with Romania?
In response to the recent racist attacks the organisation Beyond Skin will be facilitating Q&A sessions with the assistance of Denis Iliescu, a young lady from Romania. Denis was very active in Brasov, Romania working with School-Aid Romania and various faith groups and charities from Northern Ireland and she studied for a short time social care in Belfast to assist her work in Romania.
So this is your chance to ask the questions and find out more about the Romanian people.
Elements from various sessions will be recorded for Beyond Skin’s radio broadcast, Homely Planet, due to questions that will be asked many people in the wider public would like answered.
