Rural Community Network’s Annual Summer School

14 May 2009

Policy and Social Change….conversation, demonstration or both? 11 and 12 June 2009 University of Ulster, Coleraine

The purpose of Rural Community Network’s Community Development Summer School is to promote and facilitate the sharing of learning, practice, skills, knowledge and experience amongst community development practitioners and others from a range of backgrounds.

This year’s theme will explore the links between community development on the ground and how it should link to policy change across society.  Delegates will hear from Tony McCusker, former Permanent Secretary at the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Brian Harvey, an independent social research consultant in areas of social policy, Non Governmental Organisations and European integration.  The workshops will give participants the opportunity to learn from other community organisations that have lobbied to make important policy shifts.

Bursaries are available and application forms should be requested from RCN and returned no later than Friday 29 May 2009.

To register or for information regarding costs, please contact Zoe Gilmour at RCN on 028 8676 6670 or email zoe@ruralcommunitynetwork.org  Booking forms can also be downloaded from our website www.ruralcommunitynetwork.org
