CRC Condemns the Attack in Antrim

09 March 2009

The Community Relations Council condemns Saturday night’s attack in Antrim, claimed by the Real IRA, which has led to the death of two soldiers and the injury of four others including two civilians.

Tony McCusker, Chair of the Community Relations Council, says:

“Our thoughts are with the family of the bereaved and injured at this tragic time. The violent action which has led to this outrage is utterly condemned by the Community Relations Council. The Council praises the united response of the local community, clergy and politicians from all sides in making clear their abhorrence of this act. Politicians and communities need to continue to show cross-community solidarity in condemning this reversion to our violent past. It needs to be made clear that only by working together through peaceful means can we create a better future.”
