The Irish Churches Peace Project is a developing partnership of the Roman Catholic Church, the Church of Ireland, the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, the Methodist Church in Ireland and the Irish Council of Churches. Deadline for application extended to Tuesday 5th February
Working together on good relations, reconciliation and peace work at both strategic and grassroots levels across Northern Ireland and the border counties. This project is supported by the EU's PEACE III Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.
We have the following opportunities to be involved in this innovative project;
REGIONAL GOOD RELATIONS OFFICERS
Temporary up to June 2015
Salary Scale: £30,011pa
Responsible for supporting local inter-church groups developing cross-community initiatives that will contribute to a stable peace and to promote and facilitate cross-community dialogue. The geographic target areas include North and East Belfast, Craigavon District Council, Newry and Mourne and Strabane District Council areas and their neighbouring cross-border areas, and Fermanagh/South Tyrone and neighbouring cross border regions. Post holders will be responsible for one of these geographical areas.
Applicants must have:
· A Degree or HND level qualification or equivalent or 3 years’ experience in a related field.
· A knowledge of good relations, reconciliation and peace issues in Northern Ireland and the Border regions
· A minimum of 2 years’ experience in peace work and conflict resolution
· Experience of designing and delivering programmes with groups
· Willingness to work within the Christian ethos of the partner churches
