Mela is a traditional Indian Summer International Festival which celebrates getting together, a time when people come together to exchange news, enjoy a fun-filled day of different activities such as sharing food, music, dance, cultural, art, fashion.
The Belfast Mela 2007 is a celebration of the changing cultural mix of Northern Ireland and will showcase a broad range of International arts, music and dance performed on a huge outdoor stage. There will also be an exciting selection of food from around the world as well as a variety of activities to suit all ages. The world clothing and handicraft stalls will bring further variety to the day’s activities!
The Mela will capture and display the huge cultural richness of all groups taking part. Performers will be local, national and international, with a strong community input.
The Belfast Mela is the largest event of its kind in the province which encourages active attendance, interaction and entertainment from and for such a diverse kaleidoscope of cultures.
