1. Welcome and Introductions
Tony Kennedy as chair welcomed everyone to the meeting and read the apologies. He expressed condolences at the recent violent events which promoted a discussion on the importance of CRC linking more closely with the media
Minutes of the January meeting were agreed
3. Matters Arising
An action sheet will accompany the minutes.
Duncan will speak to Evelyn Collins in terms of ECNI and CRC collaborating on Section 75(2)
The Terms of Reference for the Good Relations Forum are under review
4. Review of External Communications Strategy
There have been twelve responses to the tender issue. The deadline has passed. A sub-committee will select the successful tender.
The committee are in agreement with the tender to redesign the CRC website and the deadline is 18 March. It was agreed that a CRC Council member should be involved in selecting the successful tender.
5. One Small Step
Five personal stories have been published in the Belfast Telegraph – copies were presented to committee.
6. Community Relations Award
It was agreed that the CR/One Small Steps Awards should be a high profile event – possibly using venues such as Stormont with the possibility of the OFMdFM Ministers sponsoring the event.
7. Community Relations Week
27 April- 2 May 2009
The final date for nominations is[p1] the 3rd April and should be forwarded to Ray; a committee of CRC Council members will make the final selection.
There will be three media launches
20 April Belfast
21 April Dungannon
22 April Derry
There will be 130 events happening in CR Week, 30 of these in Derry. Some District councils will take the opportunity to launch their Good Relations Strategies.
Monday 27 April. There will be a public launch of Peace III. Work on a dual launch is ongoing.
Ray will send dates to Tony McCusker for his attendance.
8. Position Papers & Responses
Gemma presented position papers on Education and Language. These will be emailed, with those previously signed off by Council, to Committee members for comments and discussion at next meeting.
9. Policy Conference
A discussion took place in relation to potential key-note speakers. The Policy Development team will follow this up. Invitations are being issued during week beginning Monday 16th March.
Committee members were asked to chair workshops at the conference.
A discussion took place in relations to a reply being made to the position of the Centre for Competitiveness in terms of Good Relations.
10. Interface working Group
The report from the Interface Working Group has been presented to and welcomed by government ministers and departments.
The conference targeted at community and level on March 27th follows three public consultations. (March 2nd, 4th and 5th).
The Communications programme will produce an article on the report and its process
