Small steps help turn page to shared future

Small steps being taken in the community to build a shared future have been captured in a new book compiled following a public consultation. The book of 100 Small Steps produced by the One Small Step Campaign includes examples of projects, initiatives and gestures taking place in communities across Northern Ireland to heal division and break down barriers. Senator George Mitchell wrote the book’s foreword. The book will be launched on Monday 13th October 08 at 7. 30 pm in the 174 Trust, North Belfast. Copies will be provided to libraries, schools and community groups.

Small steps being taken in the community to build a shared future have been captured in a new book compiled following a public consultation. The book of 100 Small Steps produced by the One Small Step Campaign includes examples of projects, initiatives and gestures taking place in communities across Northern Ireland to heal division and break down barriers. Senator George Mitchell, who wrote the book’s foreword, took delivery of the first copy off the press. The book will be launched and made available to the public after the summer.


Ten Years after the Agreement - Reconciliation Postponed?

As part of Community Relations Week the Community Relations Council is today (30 April) holding its annual policy conference at the Europa Hotel in Belfast. In the year that marks 40 years since the first civil rights marches, ten years since the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement and one year since the restoration of devolution, the conference is using a good relations lens to ask what now lies ahead.

Major economic push will fail without a shared society

Efforts to create a world-class Northern Ireland economy will fail if division in society is not also addressed, according to the chief executive of Northern Ireland’s Community Relations Council (CRC). Speaking to mark Community Relations Week, which includes more than 140 events across Northern Ireland this week, Dr Duncan Morrow says that improving and expanding the economy must go hand-in-hand with a major push to end intimidation and segregation.
