The Community Relations Council has just published the third issue of its research journal Shared Space. The journal contains five articles and a book review.

'What works for reconciliation?' by Robin Wilson, until recently Director of Democratic Dialogue, distils research carried out on models of good practice in reconciliation in Northern Ireland.

Katy Radford, researcher at the Irish School of Ecumenics, examines the therapeutic role of music in Northern Ireland's victim-survivor sector.

Neil Jarman, Director of the Institute for Conflict Research, looks at community policing  in 'Peacebuilding and Policing- the role of community-based initiatives'.

Mary Delargy, researcher at the Academy of Irish Cultural Heritages at the University of Ulster, writes about her study of 'Teaching Multiculturalism in three schools in the Derry City Council area'.

Perceptions of Protestant alienation are the subject of the final article by a group of academics from University of Ulster and Queen's University. Peter Shirlow, Brian Graham, Amanda McMullan, Brendan Murtagh, Gillian Robinson and Neil Southern write on  their 'Population Change and Social Inclusion Study in Derry/Londonderry'.

Amartya Sen's recent book on 'Identity and Violence – the illusion of destiny' is also reviewed by Professor Tony Gallagher.
