The Link

This group are helping to bring about a situation where agencies, community groups, churches and individuals are working together for the positive development of the community of Newtownards.

They seek to do this through:

Supporting and enabling churches to engage more effectively with each other and their local community.

  • Developing understanding of local community structures
  • Acting as a catalyst for change
  • Mediation between groups, communities and individuals
  • Building and developing community networks
  • Lobbying statutory agencies and government departments

The groups provide a range of services:

Youth – Link provide a safe and welcoming drop-in centre facility for marginalised young people. Relationship building, reactive support, mentoring support and more structured youth programmes are developed in consultation with the young people. This is done through a variety of methods including residentials and both group and one to one sessions.

Addiction Support Services – The MARC Project supports those with addiction problems to reduce self harm, promote sobriety and maintain independence.

Tots Time – provides children and their carers with an easily accessed community venue where children can learn through educationally stimulating play.
